Man shot during altercation at party in Beachwood vacation rental

An argument allegedly broke out among a group of men during a party at a vacation rental, leading to 20-year-old Arin Burton III sustaining a single gunshot wound.

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — An argument between a group of party-goers at a VRBO property in Beachwood in the early hours of Wednesday morning led to a man getting shot and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, City of Beachwood officials confirmed.

The man shot was identified as 20-year-old Arin Burton III. Beachwood Fire Department firefighters were the first to treat Burton, who was later transported to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital for his injuries.

According to the city, the shooting took place during a party at a house located at 22006 Halworth Road. 

According to police accounts, the house had been rented out by its owner through VRBO, an online vacation rental marketplace. During the party, an argument allegedly broke out between what police describe as a "group of males" and a single gunshot was fired, striking Burton. 

Police received several 911 calls reporting the shooting at around 1:41 a.m. Wednesday morning, and arrived to find several people leaving the residence. 

No Beachwood residents were involved in the altercation.
