Mansfield man arrested for making threatening posts on social media

MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield police have arrested a man in connection to making "threats of rioting and destructive activity" on social media.

On Thursday, the police department warned of the violent threats circulating social media ahead of a protest planned for Friday. Today, authorities apprehended 19-year-old city resident Jaywuan Peavey.

Peavey is charged with inducing panic, inciting violence and attempting to riot. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and is currently in police custody.

In addition to the arrest, police say there is no indication that ANTIFA will be in Mansfield. They say there were reports referencing the group on social media, but at this time have no credible information that they will be in the city.

Mansfield police say they are continuing to monitor the situation and are taking all necessary precautions.
