Man found guilty of murdering 2 teens at Halloween party in Mansfield

Ellerbe was found guilty on six counts of murder in the deadly Halloween party shooting in Mansfield.

MANSFIELD, Ohio — Cyrus Ellerbe, the 22-year-old man who was accused of murdering two teens at a 2023 Halloween party in Mansfield, has been found guilty. 

The trial for Ellerbe finished on Friday, Sept. 6. He was found guilty on all counts, including six counts of murder and eight counts of felonious assault. 

Ellerbe will be sentenced by Judge Phillip Naumoff on Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. 

CASE DETAILS 

The incident happened at around 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2023, at an Airbnb rental in the 800 block of Ferndale Road. Mansfield police received multiple calls about shots being fired and people running from the nearby area. 

Up to 50 people were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

A 17 and 18-year-old were found dead inside the home. The four other teens that were shot ranged in age from 14-19 years old. One of the four that were hit walked away thanks to their phone, which helped stop the bullet.

Police previously noted that guns and drugs were collected by officers as they searched for evidence.

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, detectives arrested Ellerbe on a charge of murder after consulting with the Richland County Prosecutor's Office.
