CANTON, Ohio — A 21-year-old Massillon man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to a fatal shooting that took place inside a city movie theater this past spring.
Corvon Thomas accepted a plea deal last week that saw him admit to charges of murder and felonious assault. Stark County Common Pleas Judge Natalie Haupt sentenced him to life behind bars with the possibility of parole after 25 years, with court documents noting he "may be eligible to earn days of credit."
Late at night on May 10, Thomas entered the Regal Massillon cinema and shot two people, killing 27-year-old Canton native Daron Davis inside the lobby. Thomas was arrested after attempting to flee the scene before being indicted by a grand jury two months later.
Thomas was back in court for a violent offender hearing Tuesday before being transported to prison.
