Bond set at $1 million for suspect accused of deadly double shooting in Bedford Heights

Authorities say Shawntell Ellis was wanted by the Bedford Heights Police Department in the deadly double shooting of two brothers on Oct. 7.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Two people wanted for murder were captured Tuesday morning in Cleveland Heights -- including one suspect accused of double homicide in Bedford Heights.

Those arrested include 29-year-old Shawntell Ellis and 33-year-old Eric Harris. Both were located at an address near the 12300 block of Cedar in Cleveland Heights. Authorities say at least two firearms were also found at that location.

According to the U.S. Marshals Office, Ellis was wanted by the Bedford Heights Police Department in the deadly double shooting of brothers Dominic Cunningham, 22, and Joshua Cunningham, 21, which happened in the parking lot of a restaurant back on Oct. 7.

Ellis, who was arraigned on Wednesday morning, is being held on a $1 million bond. A pre-trial has been set for Dec. 20 at 9 a.m.

“Today, the family of the slain brothers are one step closer to justice after the arrest of this wanted fugitive,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated. “Our task force will continue to pursue those fugitives who are wanted for egregious violent offenses.”
