RAVENNA, Ohio — Portage County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man who is accused of killing his wife this past Valentine's Day.
59-year-old Donald Small faces a single charge of murder in connection with the early Monday morning death of his wife Barbara. Sheriff's deputies say Barbara was stabbed multiple times at the couple's home on Winterhaven Drive in Suffield Township.
Officials pronounced Barbara Small dead at the scene and immediately took her husband in for questioning. On Wednesday, Donald Small was officially charged with murder.
"The Portage County Sheriff's Office has not released much information in an effort to protect the family during this sensitive time," Chief Deputy Ralph Spidalieri said in a statement. "We also need to protect the integrity of our investigation which is currently ongoing."
Records show Donald Small does not have a prior criminal history in Portage County. A court date for the defendant has not been set.
