CLEVELAND — The 36-year-old man who was shot multiple times at Public Square in downtown Cleveland last week has now died.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the update early Tuesday morning, reporting that Juan Rampon Ruiz Lopez of Cleveland was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center on Monday.
The shooting dates back to Friday, March 22, when officers responded to the scene near Superior Avenue and East Roadway around 1 a.m.
Upon their arrival at the scene, police said they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
“After the shooting, preliminary information indicates the suspect appears to have been involved in a separate aggravated robbery of a vehicle nearby, taking the vehicle from a 31-year-old male at gunpoint,” according to the Cleveland Division of Police. “The suspect then fled the area in the stolen vehicle.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anybody with information is asked to call the Third District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5318.
