CLEVELAND — Raymond Melton, a 30-year-old man arrested in connection with a deadly November shooting in Richmond Heights, was arraigned Wednesday morning as he pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault.
Bond has been set at $500,000 with the case assigned to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Kelly A. Gallagher.
Authorities say Melton was wanted for a Nov. 4 shooting at a family gathering in the 500 block of Towns Lane in Richmond Heights in which 26-year-old Joseph Garth was killed. Three others were also shot and injured during the incident, according to authorities.
Melton later surrendered to the Richmond Heights Police Department on Dec. 11.
“Due to Melton being featured as the fugitive of the week, the US Marshals Service received several tips that directly assisted and furthered the investigation,” according to the US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Melton is due back in court for his first pretrial hearing in the case on Monday, Jan. 8, at 9 a.m.
