RICHFIELD, Ohio — An unidentified suspect is on the run after Richfield police say he fled the scene of a pursuit, which started on I-77 South near the I-271 interchange late Thursday night.
Richfield police say it was around 11 p.m. when an officer started the pursuit after the vehicle allegedly fled from a traffic stop.
Authorities say the suspect vehicle exited I-77 at the Wheatley Road exit in Richfield and continued through the intersection where the driver “appeared to lose control” and drove through a fence to the west of the entrance ramp.
That’s when police say the vehicle then struck a high-tension power line tower in the 3900 block of Wheatley Road.
The suspect fled the vehicle and was able to escape after police say “an intensive search of the area” was conducted with the help of neighboring agencies.
Anybody with information on the suspect is asked to call the Richfield Police Department at 330-659-9500.
