State investigators offer reward after 6 connected arson fires in Cuyahoga, Lake counties

A $5,000 reward is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A series of six fires that occurred in Cuyahoga and Lake counties last month have been ruled as both connected and arson, prompting the State Fire Marshal's office to offer a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

According to a release from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau (FEIB), the fires were set between Wednesday, March 13 and Sunday, March 24.

The first fire, according to investigators, was set at approximately 10:52 p.m. on March 13 in a vacant field located at 2680 Loganberry Drive in Richmond Heights.

Over the next nine days, officials say an additional five separate vehicle fires were set in Willoughby Hills, Richmond Heights and Beachwood.

The fires did not result in any known injuries.

"Investigators are particularly interested in any photos or videos taken before or during the times in which the fires occurred," the FEIB added in its release. "This includes potential footage captured by home security or doorbell cameras as well as media captured by witnesses who may have been near the scenes. Investigators also are asking the public to alert them to any additional fires that may have occurred under similar circumstances and within that timeline, but may have not yet been reported."

A $5,000 reward is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for these fires or any additional fires in the same areas. If you have any information, please call the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728.
