US Marshals now offering $10,000 reward for information on fugitive accused of killing Mahoning County 4-year-old

Andre McCoy has been on the run since the shooting death of 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney more than two years ago.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force continues its search for a man accused of killing a 4-year-old boy more than two years ago in Mahoning County.

Federal officials are now offering an increased $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Andre McCoy, who was last believed to be in the Youngstown area. He has not been seen since September of 2020, when police were attempting to question him regarding the shooting death of young Rowan Sweeney.

Authorities say Rowan was at home with his mother when he was shot during an armed robbery attempt that also left four other adults injured. McCoy was hurt in the incident and taken to the hospital, but left before officers could speak with him. He has since been indicted on multiple charges in connection with Rowan's death, including aggravated murder.

3News affiliate WFMJ in Youngstown reports two others have been charged in Rowan's killing. While 19-year-old Brandon Crump was a juvenile at the time of the alleged incident (prosecutors are seeking to try him as an adult), 25-year-old Kimonie Bryant could potentially face the death penalty, as could the now 22-year-old McCoy. Both Crump and Bryant are in custody and awaiting trial, with pending DNA test results seeking to show who fired the bullet that killed Rowan.

McCoy is described as a 5-foot-9 Black male weighing 215 pounds with a cross tattoo near his left ear, an "LLTR" tattoo on his right wrist, and another reading "TIME IS MONEY" on his stomach. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to immediately call the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at (866) 492-6833 or submit a tip here.
