SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — A suspect wanted for his involvement in a homicide in New York as well as a weapons charge in Puerto Rico has been arrested in South Euclid by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF).
According to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service, Cesar Soto-Roman, 21, was arrested in a home in the 4200 block of Hinsdale Road in South Euclid on Monday morning. A firearm was also located in the house.
Marshals report that a warrant for Soto-Roman's arrest was first issued in November 2023 by authorities in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico for weapons violations. Additionally, police in Rochester, New York issued a warrant for Soto-Roman in connection to the death of a 54-year-old man on May 3.
As the investigation unfolded, members of the U.S. Marshals Service in Rochester believed that Soto-Roman may have fled to the Greater Cleveland area. Rochester police detectives and U.S. Marshals task force officers traveled to Northeast Ohio to work in conjunction with the NOVFTF. Soto-Roman was located on Monday morning.
“Dedicated work by Detectives in Rochester and swift work by members of our task force led to a quick arrest of this suspect," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott in a statement. "Having another firearm off the streets and out of the hands of violent fugitives is paramount to the safety of law enforcement and the community.”
