EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit confirmed to 3News on Monday morning they have been asked to assist the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department in processing a scene on Strathmore Avenue in East Cleveland.
It comes as the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department tells 3News they first executed a search warrant in connection with a missing persons investigation in the 14200 block of Potomac Avenue in Cleveland back on June 1 regarding a female reported missing out of Warrensville Heights.
Further investigation led to a second search warrant on Strathmore Avenue in East Cleveland where human remains were found in a rear yard, according to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department.
"The remains were conveyed to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation and identification," according to a press release.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) processed the crime scene and collected evidence.
No additional details were immediately available as the situation remains under investigation.
