Cleveland police are trying to find the man who they say robbed a USPS carrier last week.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on November 30, 2021. The female victim told authorities the alleged suspect approached her near East 105th and Avon in Union-Miles Park and asked for his mail for a house on Avon Ave. The USPS employee declined without further escalation.
During the investigation, the postal carrier told officers the same male approached her for a second time as she was walking near a vacant lot on 10316 Avon Ave. The suspect then brandished a handgun and asked for all of her keys.
After she complied, police say the man fled the scene with all the keys, including an "arrow key" that can be used to open the blue mail boxes throughout Northeast Ohio.
Police was able to find the USPS truck in it's original location. They say it did not appear that the suspect ever entered the mail truck. His whereabouts are still unknown at this point.
Investigators are reviewing multiple video evidence obtained in the area.
Authorities described the suspect as a black male. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hoodie, black pants with a white stripe down the sides of the legs, a black hat, and a black full neck/face covering.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the police.
