CLEVELAND — A Westlake man will serve more than a decade in prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug trafficking and weapons charges.

Ryan Gallo, 26, admitted to possession with intent to distribute meth, cocaine and marijuana as well as possessing a firearm despite having been previously convicted of a felony. On Tuesday, Judge John R. Adams sentenced him to 157 months behind bars, or 13 years and one month.

On Aug. 26, 2020, Gallo was stopped by a Broadview Heights police officer following reports Gallo had been driving erratically after leaving the scene of an accident. After noticing damage to the vehicle as well as "drug paraphernalia," Gallo was placed under arrest, and the officer later found roughly 473 grams of meth, 25 grams of cocaine, 1,134 grams of marijuana, and a .32 caliber revolver. Gallo had been prohibited from having a gun following a 2018 drug trafficking conviction in Cuyahoga County.

Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Brennan from the Northern District of Ohio, who inherited the case from her predecessor Justin Herdman, issued the following statement:

"The sentencing of Gallo to more than 13 years in prison puts all drug traffickers on notice that they will be held accountable for their illegal conduct. Throughout the course of this investigation, agents seized firearms, methamphetamines and marijuana from Gallo. DEA remains committed to protecting Ohioans from those who prey on our communities."

The Broadview Heights Police Department assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration with this case.
