AKRON, Ohio — The Akron-Canton food bank is handing out food to those in need due to the Coronavirus, tomorrow from 3:00-5:00 p.m. eastern.
The distribution will be done by members of the Ohio National Guard, similar to the situation at Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
A spokesperson for the organization says that while need for the food is up, donations and supplies available are significantly lower than in previous years.
"Our available inventory is at an all-time low" a representative told 3News, "to replenish our inventory, we’ve purchased more food than ever before, but due to the strain on the grocery industry’s supply chain, we’re not expecting the food to arrive until late June or July."
