AKRON, Ohio — As Ohio’s reopening process continues, Akron Children’s Hospital has announced a slight change to their visitor restrictions.

“Patients may have up to two adult caregivers designated as visitors for their hospital stay,” officials announced on social media. “Both can now be at the bedside at the same time.”

This change takes effect Wednesday, May 20. Previously, Akron Children’s Hospital was only permitting one caregiver per patient.

The following restrictions are also in place:

  • Everyone visiting an Akron Children’s facility is asked to wear masks or face coverings, except for kids under 2 or those with sensory issues. Masks will be provided for visitors who don’t bring their own.
  • Do not visit if you are sick (cold or flu symptoms)
  • Children (under 18) are not permitted to visit, including siblings.

“Thank you for helping us ensure the health and safety of patients, staff and visitors," officials said.

Akron Children's Hospital said they are continuing to follow social/physical distancing at all of their facilities, cleaning common areas frequently and educating/retraining caregivers on personal protective equipment.
