PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle announced on Thursday that all its stores will be closed on Easter this year. This includes Giant Eagle and Market District locations, in-store pharmacies and all GetGo locations.
With Easter falling on Sunday, April 12, supermarket locations will reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday, April 13, for seniors, those who are differently-abled and those with compromised immune systems, and at 7 a.m. for all other guests.
GetGo locations connected to supermarkets will follow a similar schedule, while all standalone GetGo locations will close at 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, and re-open at 6 a.m. on Monday, April 13.
Warehouse work and product deliveries will resume on Monday, April 13.
Starting Friday, April 3, at 6 a.m., Giant Eagle will also launch a dedicated shopping hour for first responders at all supermarkets on Thursdays and Fridays.
On those days, the stores will open an hour early to "police officers, firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and other trained members of organizations connected with this type of work."
Giant Eagle says while employees will not be asking first responders for employment information, the company asks guests to respect the dedicated hour.
In March, Giant Eagle announced a dedicated shopping hour for seniors, those who are differently-abled and those with compromised immune systems. Those hours start at 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for those shoppers.
Also last month, Giant Eagle announced stores will close on hour earlier to allow employees to clean and stock stores. Instead of 10 p.m., the company says all Giant Eagle and Market District locations will close at 9 p.m.
