COLUMBUS, Ohio — After several days away from the podium for Memorial Day weekend, Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton held a COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
The Ohio Department of Health announced that the number of confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus in Ohio is now over 33,000, with over 2,000 deaths.
DeWine said Tuesday that the state is turning its attention toward coronavirus hotspots, particularly at nursing homes in the state. All nursing home staff members will now be tested.
Plans will begin this week with newly formed Congregate Care Unified Response Teams, in which medically trained members of the Ohio National Guard will be aiding in testing residents and staff members.
Tuesday marks the reopening date for several key businesses and services across the state of Ohio. The list includes gyms and fitness centers, BMV locations, E-Check stations, pools, bowling alleys, minature golf, and sports skills training.
