CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund coalition is supporting the Greater Cleveland nonprofit community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Today, the coalition announced its first round of weekly grants. In total, $500,000 was given to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, MedWish International, Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and Senior Transportation Connection.
Greater Cleveland Food Bank will use the money to help individuals impacted by food insecurity. MedWish International will gather and provide access to Personal Protective Equipment and other medical supplies for local health care institutions. Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless will provide emergency lodging for unsheltered individuals to help them remain quarantined. And, Senior Transportation Connection will continue to make medical and food access services available to older adults in the community.
The coalition hopes to make grants once a week through June. There are opportunities to extend grant opportunities as needed and as additional funding opens up and as new partners become a part of the effort. More than $5.73 million from over 30 different corporate, civic and philanthropic partners along with individual donations contributed to the fund.
New funding partners include Dominion Energy, Giant Eagle Foundation, The Sherwin-Williams Company, TEGNA Foundation and Three Arches Foundation.
