AKRON, Ohio — A 17-year-old boy was killed and a 23-year-old man injured in a shooting on Wednesday according to the Akron Police Department.
Officers responded to calls of shots fired near East Glenwood Avenue and Dan Street at approximately 4:03 p.m. When they arrived to the scene, they found the two victims inside of a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.
Based on an initial investigation of the incident, the victims were driving in the area when another car of unidentified occupants pulled in front of the victims and opened fire into their vehicle. The suspects immediately fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Bullets from the shooting also struck a nearby home on Damon Street, though no injures were reported as a result of the bullets striking the residence.
The 17-year-old was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 23-year-old was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 17-year-old has been identified as Antenio Louis of Akron.
Akron police are asking anyone with information related to the shooting to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip. Anonymous tips can also be relayed to the Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS.
