AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a 37-year-old man died following a shooting at an Akron apartment complex.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office says that the shooting happened on Monday, April 29, at around 10 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Everton Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found a victim in the hallway of the apartment complex with a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim, who has been identified as Gregory Bernard Dykes, was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:31 p.m.
"The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown, but detectives believe there was an altercation between the suspect and the victim moments before the fatal shooting. Investigators are working to identify and locate a person of interest in the incident," said Akron police in a press release.
The Akron Police Department and Summit County Medical Examiner's Office are continuing to investigate the shooting.
