Man wanted in connection with deadly hit-and-run crash involving cyclist in Akron: What police are saying about the suspect

Police say David Farren is wanted for aggravated vehicular homicide and “other related charges.”

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a deadly crash that claimed the life of 47-year-old Jimmy Fletcher after he was struck while riding a bike last month on South Arlington Street near Ray Street.

Police released new details in the case Monday morning in which David Farren was identified as the driver of a 2013 Chevy Cruze that was allegedly involved in the fatal crash. Police say he’s wanted for aggravated vehicular homicide and “other related charges.”

Farren is described as 6’4” tall with brown hair and hazel eyes. He weighs around 188 pounds and has a tattoo on his right arm.

The incident dates back to Friday, Feb. 9, when Akron police responded to the scene around 4:07 p.m. Upon their arrival, police say Fletcher was found unconscious on the ground after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where authorities say he died a few days later.

The vehicle involved in the crash was traced to Ashtabula and towed back to Akron last week, according to the update from police.

Anyone with information regarding Farren and his whereabouts is encouraged to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.
