According to Akron Fire Lt. Tim Morrison, the first of the two blazes took place in the 2440 block of Income Drive in Goodyear Heights at around 12:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived to a one-and-a-half story structure with light smoke showing. Morrison says three dogs that were "lifeless" were rescued using "Pet Oxygen Recovery Masks." The homeowners were not at the house at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported, however the Red Cross was called for two displaced adults.

The second fire happened at around 4:30 p.m. in the 800 block of E. Crosier Street. Crews discovered heavy smoke coming from the second story of a house. Three dogs were rescued from the home. There were no reported injuries. Morrison says the Red Cross was notified and was on scene for two adults who were displaced.
