AKRON, Ohio — Multiple people have been displaced following two separate weekend fires in Akron.
The first impacted eight people after an incident Saturday in the 300 block of Julien Avenue.
Fire officials responded to the scene around 11 p.m. after receiving a call that smoke was coming from an electrical outlet. Upon their arrival, firefighters found residents were evacuating the two-and-a-half-story residence with smoke seen coming from the basement.
FirstEnergy was contacted to disconnect power from the street to the house.
The American Red Cross was requested for those displaced. Nobody was hurt.
The second incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Valdes Avenue in which two adults and three children were displaced.
Fire officials responded to the scene amid a call of heavy smoke coming from a house. Fire officials say the flames were brought under control by 1:43 p.m.
The American Red Cross has also been asked to assist those impacted by this fire. No injuries were reported.
