AKRON, Ohio — With the summer months approaching, that means there's plenty happening at Akron's Lock 3 park.
On Friday, the City of Akron released its full concerts and events schedule for Lock 3, which is entering its 21st season of "amazing bands, festivals and family-fun entertainment in downtown Akron."
This year's schedule is highlighted by the first-ever "Rock the Lock" concert, which will take place on Friday, June 23, with Into The Blue a Tribute to ELO and Jersey. Two weeks later, 3News senior health correspondent Monica Robins and her band, Monica Robins & the Whiskey Kings, will take the stage for a concert at 7 p.m. on July 7.
Other events on this year's schedule include the Sunday Backyard Movie Series, Gospel Sundays, Wednesday Live & Local concerts, Friday Lunch @ The Lock and festivals. The Rib White and Blue Festival will also return this year, taking place from June 30-July 4.
The City of Akron also noted that due to ongoing construction in the park, the Rock the Lock concerts, Saturday concerts, including Old School Soul, and movies will be held in Lock 3’s Backyard, located behind the original stage, next to The Akron Civic Theatre. Guests are able to enter from W. Bowery St., with parking located at the State Street parking deck and Cascade parking deck.
A full schedule of events can be found at www.locklive3.com.
