AKRON, Ohio — Three people have now been arrested in connection with a deadly Akron shooting that claimed the life of 29-year-old Jamar Franklin earlier this month.
The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force announced that Dererk Edwards and Robert Davis, both 19 years old, were captured Tuesday morning in the 700 block of Kling Street. The other suspect, identified as 23-year-old Khairi Moorer, was caught a few days earlier on Nov. 14 in the 100 block of Ido Avenue.
The case dates back to Nov. 7 when officers responded to the intersection of South Main Street and West Miller Avenue amid reports of a single car crash.
“When officers arrived, they discovered a victim inside the car with an apparent gunshot wound,” according to a press release.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police say it was determined that Franklin was sitting inside a vehicle in a carry-out parking lot on West Long Street when he was shot by an unknown suspect. He then managed to drive a short distance after the shooting before crashing his vehicle, police said.
