AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy.
According to the Akron Police, the shooting happened at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, when the victim and three other individuals were walking on Dodge Avenue.
While walking, the victim, who has been identified as Jamarian Coffey, became involved in an alleged altercation that led to one of the other individuals allegedly pulling a gun on the victim and shooting him several times.
Upon arriving on the scene, Akron Police officers discovered the teenage victim unresponsive in the front yard of a residence in the 100 block of Dodge Avenue. Officials pronounced the unidentified teenager dead on the scene.
Akron Police believe, based on preliminary information, that the suspect and others involved, who fled the scene, are juveniles.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
