Akron police: Woman in critical condition following shooting

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a woman was shot in Akron on Tuesday morning.

Akron police say the shooting happened at around 9:50 a.m. in the 800 block of Concord Avenue. 

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 33-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head. 

According to officials, the victim was transported to Akron City Hospital, where she is in critical condition. 

Akron police took a 45-year-old woman into custody following the shooting. She was taken to the police station for questioning. 

At this time, the incident remains under investigation as detectives are working to determine the circumstances around the shooting.
