AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after two people were hurt in an overnight weekend shooting in the 700 block of East Archwood Avenue.
It was around 1:35 a.m. Sunday when officers responded to The Pour House for a shots fired call. Upon their arrival, police reportedly found bullets had struck a parked vehicle and building.
Minutes later, officers say they were notified of a 56-year-old man who was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and rushed to surgery. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A second person -- identified as a 24-year-old man -- was also taken to the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. Police say he is expected to survive.
The names of those hurt are being withheld pending further investigation.
“Based on preliminary information, there appeared to have been an exchange of gunfire outside the establishment that resulted in the subjects being struck,” according to a press release from Akron police.
No arrests have been made, but anybody with information is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490.
