AKRON, Ohio — Three teens -- all of which are 15 years old -- were hurt in what Akron police say “appears to be a drive-by shooting” that happened over the weekend.
In details released Monday, police say officers responded to the scene at South Arlington Street and Delos around 3 p.m. Saturday.
“When they arrived, they located the first victim who had run to the nearby Dollar General store after being shot in the leg,” according to a press release from Akron police. “A second teen was found at a home in the 1100 block of Santee Avenue with an apparent gunshot wound to the lower extremity.”
Both boys were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment.
“A short time later, a third shooting victim arrived at the hospital with a leg injury after being self-transported,” police said.
None of their injuries are considered life-threatening, according to police.
Police and detectives collected more than a dozen shell casings and other evidence at the scene.
“Based on the preliminary information gathered, the victims were walking down the street when an unknown suspect fired multiple shots from a vehicle that was traveling northbound on S. Arlington Street,” police said. “Investigators are still working to determine the totality of the circumstances involved with the shooting, as well as hoping to identify the person or persons responsible.”
Anybody with information is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.
