AKRON, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after two people died following separate crashes in Akron on Monday.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office released the following details on Tuesday morning:
Crash at 5:45 p.m.
A 66-year-old woman was driving northbound on Akron-Peninsula Road “when she suddenly went off the right side of the roadway” and hit a pole, The vehicle then overturned.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:06 p.m.
Her name has not yet been released.
Crash at 7:15 p.m.
A 60-year-old man – identified as Lawrence Meiers – was driving a motorcycle eastbound on Albrecht Avenue “when he attempted to pass a vehicle that was turning onto Ripley Avenue.”
Authorities say the motorcycle clipped the vehicle and Meiers was ejected.
Meiers was taken to an Akron hospital where he later died at 7:45 p.m.
No additional details about either crash were immediately available.
