AKRON, Ohio — A 16-year-old was taken into custody by the Akron Police Department after an alleged attempted armed robbery.
The incident happened on Wednesday night around 9:20 p.m. in the 1000 block of Roslyn Avenue.
According to the Akron Police Department, a 49-year-old victim was sitting in a vehicle when the teenage suspect approached him with a handgun, demanding for his money.
The 49-year-old victim was able to 'wrestle' the gun away from the teenage suspect. The victim and neighbors kept the suspect on the ground until the police arrived.
During the altercation, a gunshot went off, and a bullet struck a house, but no one was inside the home or injured.
The 16-year-old is being charged with the following:
- Aggravated Robbery
- Aggravated Menacing
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Assault,
- Discharging Firearms
