CLEVELAND — An 11-year-old girl who was critically injured in a Canton house fire two weeks ago has died, Canton Fire Division Chief Steve Henderson said Sunday.
Harmony Fowler died with her family at her side after being removed from life support on Saturday, Henderson said.
Fowler was rescued from a second-floor bathroom after a two-story home on 3rd Street Northwest caught fire just after 7:45 p.m. on July 12.
The girl was rushed by ambulance to Aultman Hospital before being airlifted to Akron Children's Hospital but never regained consciousness.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The department says two dogs, a pig, and a bird were also removed from the residence alive.
A firefighter sustained minor burns trying to reach the child and was treated on scene.
Henderson said more details would be released "as they become available."
