CANTON, Ohio — A fire in Canton took the life of one woman on Monday afternoon, the Canton Fire Department announced on Tuesday.
At approximately 12:48 p.m. on Monday the Canton Fire Department responded to the call of a structure fire with a possible entrapment at Broad Ave NW and 8th St. NW. Units arrived to find 2705 8th St. NW ablaze, according to authorities.
While the department was getting the fire under control, the body of a female was found on the front porch. It is estimated that the woman was around 60 years old. Her name has not yet been released.
In addition to the loss of life, the fire caused damage to the house that resulted in a total loss, and heavy exterior damage to the residence next door, according to the fire department. One firefighter also suffered a minor injury, however that did not require any treatment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
