CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Fire is investigating today after a fatal fire that took place in the early hours of New Year's Eve.
According to officials, Cleveland firefighters were called out to the 13300 block of Southview Avenue around 2 a.m. for reports of a fire at a residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story home on fire.
After fire crews had worked to put out the blaze, a search was conducted in which a deceased individual was found inside of the home. Officials tell 3News that due to severity of burns on the victim, the individual's identity has not been identified.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and identity of the victim.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Cleveland Fire.
