6 people, including 2 teenagers, shot in Cleveland over 15-hour period

While none of the victims were killed, their exact conditions are unknown at this time. In one of the cases, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and an AR-15 recovered.

CLEVELAND — Police are investigating six separate shootings that took place over a roughly 15-hour period beginning Tuesday afternoon and into early Wednesday morning in Cleveland.

Four of the incidents took place on the east side, with a fifth occurring in Ohio City near the Flats and a sixth in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. While none of the victims were killed, their exact conditions are unknown at this time.

Two of the victims were teenagers, including a 15-year-old boy who was shot in the right knee on the 10500 block of Drexel Avenue around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. The teen was taken by private auto to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, and a 16-year-old boy was arrested with officials recovering an AR-15 style rifle from the scene.

The timeline of the other shootings is as follows, with no suspects in custody at this time:

  • Tuesday, 2:10 p.m.: A 63-year-old man was shot in the leg on the 11200 block of Parkview Avenue; taken by ambulance to UH.
  • Tuesday, 2:27 p.m.: A 45-year-old man arrived at the District 2 police station saying he had been shot in the hand at the Lakeview Tower apartment complex on Washington Avenue; taken by ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center.
  • Wednesday, 2:02 a.m.: A 23-year-old man arrived at UH via private auto saying he had been shot in the left hand at Quix Food Store on East 185th Street.
  • Wednesday, 3:25 a.m.: A 15-year-old girl was shot in the leg and backside on the 15300 block of Lakeshore Boulevard; taken by ambulance to UH.
  • Wednesday, 5:33 a.m.: A 35-year-old man was shot in the stomach on the 4100 block of Carlyle Avenue; taken by ambulance to Metro.

Also Tuesday night, a 29-year-old Cleveland man died after crashing his motorcycle into a car on State Road near Leopold Avenue, and officials also responded to a suspected fatal overdose on West 106th Street. The shootings also come on the heels of a weekend that saw six others shot in the city between Friday and Sunday evenings, including a 40-year-old man who was killed in an Anson Avenue driveway and an 11-year-old child who was listed as being in stable condition after being grazed on the neck while sitting in a car at a Sunoco station on East 55th Street and Woodland Avenue.
