CLEVELAND — A body was found in the waters of Lake Erie at Edgewater Park, according to a spokesperson from the Cleveland Metroparks.
At approximately 7:22 p.m. on Sunday evening, a Cleveland Metroparks Police dive team responded to reports of a person who jumped into the waters at Edgewater Park but did not come back up to the surface.
Initial attempts to locate the victim were unsuccessful, according to a spokesperson from the Cleveland Division of Fire. Dive teams and rescue swimmers were deployed after the initial attempts failed. The body of a man was eventually found.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Edy Vasquez.
According to witnesses who spoke with 3News, they saw a group of men jumping off the rocks outside of the designated swim area near Edgewater Beach.
The incident is currently under investigation.
