CLEVELAND — Taking to its Facebook page on Monday, Chocolate Bar in Cleveland announced that it has permanently closed.
The restaurant, which was located in The Arcade at 347 Euclid Ave., said that its closure came as a result of ongoing staffing issues.
"The Chocolate Bar thanks you for your 13 years of loyal patronage. Due to continuous staffing challenges, The Chocolate Bar must close its doors," the post reads. "It has become too difficult with the lack of staff to provide our loyal customers with the quality of service they deserve. It has been a pleasure to serve you and be a part of the many birthday celebrations, rehearsal dinners, retirement parties, bachelorette parties, and graduation festivities that were celebrated here."
The restaurant also added: "Remember: 'Everything is BETTER with Chocolate!'
The popular eatery had temporarily closed in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. In January 2021, general manager Shawn Freeman spoke with 3News about the struggles the restaurant had faced as a result of the limited hours caused by the state's imposed curfews.
"We have people trying to get in and I have to look at them and say, 'Hey guys, we close within the hour,'" Freeman told 3News. "Even that little extra hour will keep us going."
