CLEVELAND — A man was found dead in the basement of a house following a fire, according to the Cleveland Fire Department.
Cleveland fire crews responded to calls of a house fire on Puritas Avenue, west of Rocky River Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found an active fire on the first floor of a 1 and half story house. Crews were able to put the fire out quickly after arrival.
While conducting a search of the residence after the fire was extinguished, an adult man was found dead in the basement.
The fire remains under investigation. The Cleveland Fire Department said smoke alarms in the house were working during an initial investigation.
