CLEVELAND — 7-year-old Demetrius Dunlap died after he found a loaded gun and accidentally shot himself in his Cleveland home, now his mother and her boyfriend have been indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with his death.
It was at a home on West 30th. First responders rushed to the home after calls came in about a child injured with a gun.
Police scanner audio released from the night of the incident reveals what was first responders saw when they arrived.
Scanner: "There is blood on the scene but they haven't made entry yet. I don't believe the juvenile is here."
Scanner: "Male said they were sleeping, next thing you know, they heard a gunshot."
Demetrius died at the hospital. On Wednesday 28-year-old Bryan Ibry and the boy's mother 28-year-old Chartika Mock were indicted by a grand jury and now face involuntary manslaughter charges.
On Mock's Facebook page, she mentions losing her son. Police say Mock and Irby are responsible for her son Demetrius's death.
It was revealed from scanner audio that Bryan Irby does have a concealed carry permit.
The couple is due back in court on April 20th to face those charges.
