CLEVELAND — The Playhouse Square Foundation has purchased Cleveland's Greyhound bus station for $3.35 million.
Playhouse Square will now own the building on Chester Avenue near the theaters and across the street from the Hofbräuhaus.
According to Cuyahoga County property records, the deal closed on Thursday, April 4.
Property records say that Playhouse Square purchased the four parcels from GH Cleveland OH LLC. The property spans over 34,000 square feet.
"We look forward to sharing our plans for the space when they are solidified," said Playhouse Square in a statement to 3News. "In the meantime, we are committed to respecting the historic integrity of the building and to working with the City of Cleveland and Greyhound to ensure the transition to Greyhound’s new base of operations occurs on a timetable that works for all parties. Details regarding the new location and timing will be announced by the City and Greyhound when finalized."
The purchase gives Playhouse Square, whose mission is to create a "destination that is a superior location for entertainment, business, and residential living, thereby strengthening the economic vitality of the region," an opportunity to expand in downtown Cleveland.
