CLEVELAND — This is a story that should make everyone in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio proud.
A pair of national publications, Travel + Leisure and The Points Guy, have featured Cleveland as a must-visit destination in 2024. Specifically, Cleveland is one of 50 destinations featured in Travel + Leisure's 50 Best Places to Travel in 2024, while The Points Guy mentions Cleveland as one of his 16 Best Places to Travel.
Travel + Leisure placed Cleveland in its "Big City Thrills" category as part of its list of the 50 best places to travel. There are seven categories of destinations in the list.
"The year ahead has the Land set to shine, thanks to national and international events, world-class cultural expansions, and the rebirth of historic hotels," writer Jennifer Salerno Yong says of Cleveland. Yong points out several key events coming to our city next year:
- NCAA Women's Final Four at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, April 5-7
- Total solar eclipse, April 8
- Pan-American Masters Games, July 12-21
- Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, TBD
Yong also points out that "many institutions are in the midst of revitalization" in Cleveland, including the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Karamu House. She also referenced development along the city's waterfront and updates to the city's hotels as more reasons why Cleveland is not to be missed next year.
The Points Guy lists Cleveland as part of the cities that will be in the path of the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
"In Cleveland, another NASA partner city, a natural phenomenon known as a lake effect (where cool air blows away clouds from the shoreline of Lake Erie) will allow visitors to view the eclipse for nearly four minutes," The Points Guy wrote.
The Points Guy also references hotel specials and the Total Eclipse Fest from the Great Lakes Science Center and NASA Glenn Research Center as reasons to be in Cleveland for the celestial event.
“This recognition from two well-respected and highly read media outlets underscores the excitement ahead for Cleveland in 2024,” said David Gilbert, president and CEO of Destination Cleveland. “All the large-scale events on tap in 2024 and major updates at museums, hotels and cultural institutions give travelers unique reasons to visit The Land, adding to the world-class attractions, neighborhoods and experiences that already make Cleveland a must-visit destination for travelers.”
