CLEVELAND — A three-day celebration will take place at Cleveland's Great Lakes Science Center in the spring of 2024 leading up to the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.
The Science Center will play host to the Total Eclipse Fest 2024 event in Cleveland's North Coast Harbor from April 6-8, 2024. On Monday, April 8, the path of a total solar eclipse will run right through the heart of Northeast Ohio beginning at approximately 2:00 p.m. lasting through approximately 4:30 p.m.
The event is described as "outdoor and family friendly" and will feature various activities including:
- Free community concert performance by The Cleveland Orchestra (Sunday, April 7)
- Food vendors
- Entertainment, Free eclipse viewing glasses (while supplies last)
- Opportunities to engage with NASA experts on sun/eclipse information
The Cleveland Orchestra will perform an "Out of this World" concert program with music from the films 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars. Images will be projected for the crowd to see along with the performance from places like the International Space Station, pictures from the Hubble Telescope and NASA's photo archives.
The Science Center says they expect crowds of up to 30,000 people on the day of the eclipse.
