CLEVELAND — Two people are in the hospital today after Cleveland firefighters were dispatched to extinguish a blaze at an apartment complex.
According to reports, a fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. within the 4100 Block of E. 187 Street. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire.
3News has confirmed that the fire was within the Alpha Phi Alpha Housing Estates in Cleveland.
Lt. Michael Norman of Cleveland Fire told 3News crews that one person transported via EMS with burns and another was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Cleveland EMS says both individuals are in stable condition at this time.
"#CLEFIREONSCENE Occupied Apartment Fire on E.187 south of Harvard in 5th Battalion. 2 residents transported by @ClevelandEMS in stable condition. No FF injuries reported. Fire quickly extinguished. Cause under investigation," Cleveland Fire said on Twitter.
Officials remain at the scene and continue to investigate.
