EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — East Cleveland fire crews are on the scene at the 14000 block of Savannah Avenue to put out a fire that has spread to four different houses.
According to the East Cleveland Fire Chief, wind-damaged power lines that came down near the garage is what is believed to have started the fire.
Everyone in all four residences were able to exit safely after the fire started and spread. Multiple pets were also safely recovered from the houses. There have been no injuries reported at this time.
3News reporter Emma Henderson was at the scene of the fire and spoke to an East Cleveland firefighter about the incident.
The firefighter said fuel stored in one of the garages added to the fire and helped it spread to the three additional houses. The wind Northeast Ohio experienced on Saturday played a factor in the spread of the fire as well.
Emma also spoke to a man who saw the fire while he was driving during his Door Dash shift. He helped multiple individuals exit one of the homes safely as the fires spread.
Sunday Update: The Red Cross confirmed to 3News that 16 individuals (11 adults and 5 children) are currently receiving assistance due to this fire.
