CLEVELAND — East Cleveland police officer Brian Stoll has pleaded not guilty to several charges for which he was indicted earlier this month.
During an appearance in the Cuyahoga County Court Monday morning, a judge accepted his not guilty plea on the following counts:
- One count of theft in office
- One county of tampering with evidence
- One count of dereliction of duty
- One count of interfering with civil rights
Additionally, the judge ordered Stoll to submit an oral DNA sample and set a $5,000 personal bond.
Stoll's fellow officer, Tyler Mundson, was indicted on the same charges. In the officers' indictment, the dates of all four offenses are listed as "on or about March 31, 2022."
Earlier this month, East Cleveland Police Chief Scott Gardner was indicted on multiple charges, including theft and fraud.
Among the charges, Gardner is accused of failing to pay more than $150,000 in taxes between 2014 and 2019.
Following his indictment, Gardner was suspended and placed on administrative leave.
Stoll's next hearing will be a pre-trial on October 6.
