First Look: Green Light Tattoos and Art Gallery brings almost 40 years of ink experience to the Flats East Bank

Each of the three co-owners have been tattooing for about 13 years, and are now putting their own spin on ink in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Following its grand opening on August 6, Green Light Tattoos and Art Gallery has become an ink destination in the Flats East Bank.

Co-owned by brothers Marcus Miller and Michael Miller, along with longtime friend Derrick Black, the three bring a collective 39 years of ink experience to Cleveland's tattoo scene.

Each having tattooed for about 13 years, Marcus tells me the trio is ready to make their own mark and give opportunities to artists who are just starting out in the field.

"Opening up our own studio gives us creative freedom and an opportunity to do whatever we want artistically," he said. "Being your own boss is the ultimate goal, right? And giving other artists opportunities to grow and be great is a huge thing for us!"

Their journey to owning their own studio started in Cleveland Heights, with Marcus and Michael cutting their teeth at Focused Tattoos. From there, the three of them worked together at Impact Ink for three years before deciding to make the jump to the west side.

"We chose the Flats because it’s the busiest area in Cleveland and it’s a prime location," Marcus told me. "The city is trying to diversify the types of businesses in this area, so we were a perfect fit. MGK’s [Machine Gun Kelly's] 27 club is right next door and they are great neighbors to have!"

Those interested in perhaps grabbing a coffee next door and getting their own ink from one of the talented artists at Green Light can direct message the studio on its instagram page, @greenlighttattoosandartgallery.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 1 pm to 9 pm, and is closed on Sundays.
