CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Zoo's newest giraffe calf has joined his mother and the rest of the herd in the zoo's outdoor habitat.
The calf, who has not been named, was born April 15. The zoo says he is considered on the smaller side, as he was about 101 pounds and six feet tall at birth. He has since gained 20 pounds, but the zoo says male calves typically weigh about 150 pounds at birth.
The calf has spent the last two weeks getting to know other giraffes at the zoo.
The zoo says naming opportunities for the giraffe will come soon.
