CLEVELAND — Passengers who use the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's (GCRTA) Red Line to come into downtown from the west side will want to be aware of this update.
The GCRTA has announced that effective on Wednesday, July 17, the Red Line W. 117–Madison Station will be closed until further notice "due to needed rehabilitation work of the station’s platform and track bridges that were constructed in 1953."
All other Red Line stations will be in service during this rehabilitation project.
So what are your options?
The GCRTA says bus service at the W. 117 – Madison Station will continue while the station is closed for rail service. "The #25: Madison - Clark provides east and west service, while the #78: West 117th - Puritas provides north and south service from the station," the GCRTA notes.
In a Facebook post, the city of Lakewood reminds RTA riders that the Triskett Station "will still operate as normal, and Red Line trains will continue to run east and west, minus the stop at W. 117th Station." The Triskett Station can be accessed from Lakewood Heights Blvd. near Waterbury and Chesterland.
The GCRTA advises that riders who regularly utilize the W. 117th-Madison station’s rail service "should make alternative travel plans by using their trip planner or call the RTA Community Connection Line at 216-621-9500."
